New Train Maintenance Facility Derby
Nationwide Concrete Finishers were involved in the construction of a new Wheel Lathe Facility for East Midlands Train at Derby Etches Park. This bespoke facility has been constructed to service the new fleet of Meridian Trains operating between the Midlands and London.
Nationwide carried out a number of works on this project including concrete finishing and the application of the epoxy coatings to the slabs & pits, protecting the concrete surface from fuels and oils to achieve the design durability of 60 years.
The works were carried out to a very demanding programme of 10 weeks from foundation commencement to completion. This necessitated working days, night and weekend shifts to ensure the sectional completion was achieved enabling East Midlands Train to bring into operation the facility maximizing their train services.
